To send an encrypted message, all you need is the recipient’s SMS-enabled phone number (U.S. and Canada; more regions coming soon). After composing your message, SecureDrop1 generates a unique, one-time link you can share by text, email, or any messaging platform.

The message link can only be unlocked after SecureDrop1 verifies the recipient’s identity using a one-time passcode sent to their phone. Until that verification happens, your message and any attachments remain fully encrypted and inaccessible to anyone else.
